Connecting From London--Day 6

Hello, Families!  Tonight's posting is the last one from my trip to London.  We leave Heathrow tomorrow about noon and arrive at Logan at about 3:30pm. (No, I haven't lost my ability to calculate--it's the time difference!).  We then hop on a bus to Portland (once we get through customs, that is).  We should make it home by midnight or so!

We started this morning at the British Library where my husband wanted to go to see a very famous document called the Magna Carta.  This "book bench" was sitting in the lobby of the British Museum.  I fell in love with it straight away, but it was much too heavy to bring home.  And besides, it would be a nightmare to try to get it through customs!  You can actually sit on it, though, which I thought was kinda cool!

Next, we headed over to Sherlock Holmes's house at 221B Baker Street.   This policeman stands outside his door each day, keeping guard!

"Dr. D" pretending to be the celebrated detective

This is Sherlock's living room, and a picture of "Dr. D" wearing Sherlock's deerstalker hat and holding his pipe.

We went to the shop next door and bought souvenirs, and then went looking for lunch.

After lunch, we ventured to "Madame Tussaud's" Wax Museum.  There we were able to see close up some rather famous people.  Do you know who these people are?

What about him?

                                      Or him?
Emily with William Shakespeare

           Or this famous artist?

We saw some other familiar characters, too.
This one was green and HUGE!!!!   Even his mama would be scared of him!

Spiderman came by for a visit.

Emily was thrilled to see Captain America!
Hawkeye and Nick Fury were there, too.

And what kind of Marvel party would be complete without. . .  IRONMAN!!!!

And finally, from a galaxy far, far away. . .

Chewbacca, R2D2 and C3PO. . .

Bad Dudes. . . like a stormtrooper (or two) . . .

an evil Lord Vader. . . fighting a young Jedi knight while Emperor Palpatine watches on.   Very cool!
I hope that you have enjoyed the entries in this blog.
See you Monday, and may The Force be with you!!!
